Boreham Wood Retail Park - As close as it gets
Case History for the Metro Bank (Boreham Wood)
This contract involved a tricky heavy installation at night in the shopping complex at Boreham wood retail park for Metro bank on behalf of our clients Killby & Gayford Limited.
The whole side of the building was removed and placed on temporary supports whilst a new portal bracing assembly was installed in the existing building. The load was then transferred back to the new frame without so much as a crack in the gutter seals.
Then a heavy vestibule ellipse was to be fed under the new portal and positioned 3m INSIDE the building. The head room was so restricted we had to find the exact centre of gravity before the fabrication left the factory in order to get the lifting slings as small as possible; even the crane hook was dispensed with. With this established the only vertical movement was with the crane jib.
The crane jib was extended horizontally into the building. See pictures and letter of appreciation from the agent (Matt Liddell from Killby & Gayford Ltd).
